China is making moves towards a wartime economy. There are also other moves taking place that would suggest some kind of mobilization is taking place. It is hard to know because the leadership right now is fractured and there is a struggle for power - not just in the government, but also in the PLA. Xi may play the war card to retain power but it doesn't appear as though he has complete command over the military. No doubt the US is watching very closely. Xi's crazy attempts to stay in power could drag the world into chaos.
