I would imagine it was rather deliberate. Despite the rhetoric and pieces of paper declaring equality under the law.

Money and connections ultimately mean some people are more equal than others and are handled differently. Same thing happened in the founders day.

Plus Comey was only formerly charged with lying to Congress and obstructing a Congressional proceeding. Both of which are misdemeanors and usually result in slaps on the wrist on the rare occasion they are actually prosecuted.

So the prosecution is starting on extremely weak footing to start with. Given how rarely lying to congress actually result in charges. Let alone successful prosecution.
