Because America was settled, it is now a culturally enriched, diverse, inclusive nation of immigrants, which is exactly what liberals say they want.
America was never a country of immigrants particularly illegal immigrants, but a country of citizens. But you know that already.
Perhaps the word "immigrant" is too sensitive. Is "settler" more appropriate? Pioneer? Colonist?
