Go look at the census forms. That is where you will find the problem. Mexicans are considered “white” on that form. Ethnicity is not considered a race. Technically anyone not black or Asian are considered white. Just checked the 2020 census form, there are boxes for American Indians/Alaskan native and lots of Asian classifications.
