Anecdote: Back in the day (pre-"free trade" era) minimum wage in the US was $5.25/hour; average ground beef +/- $1.00/pound. Work an hour, buy 5 pounds of decent ground meat, with 25+ cents left over, and eat for a few days off of that.
Today: Minimum wage $7.25 per hour...work for 1 hour, and you're lucky if you can even buy ONE pound of average ground meat for $7.25!
