I AGREE, And what a great way to expose the waste in Govt spending, on a work force that by and large does little or nothing with the exception of those groups he mentioned who are being funded anyway. The amount of Govt employees (not workers) in Australia grows exponentially every year while unemployment increases elsewhere. Even if it is shutdown, no matter how long it lasts, I reckon it's part of trimming the fat, I doubt critical folk would continue pro-bono such as air traffic controllers.
Who knows, don't take it at surface value though. If moves are being made to avoid civil war and mass hysteria, monetary collapse etc, then I see the same at play here.
The biggest issue is the military currently not receiving pay. There's no chance a shutdown will continue that long without a resolution to at least pay them.
