I hate when they call girls "young women". This gives no context. Are they six, twelve, fifteen, eighteen or twenty? I want to know!!! Kittens are not "young cats", nor puppies "young dogs." Conversely, I hate when someone calls a woman over forty a "girl". She is not a girl. A twenty, using the word "woman" is proper. Before that, no. OK, if she is in the military we can call her a woman at 18. Let girls be girls!!
agree, I would consider a girl, by age of 17 or so, could be called a young lady, under that, they are teenage girls, under that, they are girls, and under that, little girls. At 75, I just chuckle when someone refers to me as a "young lady", I joke back at them, "this is not going to get me to tip you" and then we all laugh.

The word "minor" is ok too. It's a legal term. It's very specific. "female minor" is a good term.
