When my kids were in high school, all we had was dial up. Mostly text, no fun stuff, and it was incredibly slow. None of them had cell phones even in college. They're all adults now with their own children, and are very strict about internet and phone use. It's a good tool, but parents definitely need to be involved and monitoring what the kids are doing.
I didn't put internet in my home when my kids were in high school.
They would try to tell me they needed it to do homework and I told him the library was right down the road.
I didn't have internet till college. They'll survive.
They did survive and I put the internet in after they left for college.
