8 years out is still a pretty tall order for predicting things down to the day.

Maybe not, if they've been planning to tie certain drops to specific days all along. I suspect that's the case -- not for everything (disinformation is necessary, and besides -- shit happens, so not everything can go as planned) but for certain things, probably yes.
