You’re free to keep it, as I don’t accept the disgust.
Nobody said there shouldn’t be care applied or grace applied to bad decisions, or if someone else did, I didn’t notice it.
What was stated in the meme, and which I phrased more politely, is that having children outside of marriage - in general, but certainly not as a means of income and profit - should not be encouraged. Outright shunning is probably too far, but discouragement of it, beyond merely not encouraging it, is good.
Charity for failures should be private, whether through an organization, church, or family. Men should be encouraged to take up responsibility where they have failed. Women should be encouraged to take up a yoke for their children where they failed. Other failures of loving kindness can also be overcome.
Public charity organizations were previously used to break up the family systems of entire regions beginning under LBJ and continuing into today, and that we all help fund it disgusts me, so welcome to the club.
Angela84 - Real empathy is asking peoples situation and trying to help not just cutting off millons. I help a food bank they are already running out of food constantly. I can't donate more without my kids going hungry but I will be crying with hungry parent and kids next week. Republicans who don't care are a big problem.
I’m no Republican. I’m American, and feeding peoples’ bellies alone — or “enabling” as it could be called in other areas — does not necessarily solve problems … it might even cause them at times. Philadelphia is trying to solve its drug problem by providing clean injection stations. How’s that working out? Would you like me to provide screenshots and video clips of the results?
I spend a good amount of time talking to people as they are waiting in line.
One lady used to make and sell food with her food stamps. She got in trouble and can't get food stamps for years. She is getting skinny not having enough to eat. She lives for free with a guy who hurts her. She has a couple kids. I was helping her apply for work but she hasn't had a job in ten years and doesn't have a car. I would be surprised if she gets anything.
Most of our clients get most of their food from food stamps now they will all be scrambling like her. I am mad as hell at all the politicians that made this happen.
Also single mother are stigmatized. Living off benefits isn't some great reward. They are mostly broke. The ones that aren't are cheating the system, generally not in smart ways, they often get caught.
The problem is multivariant, and has regularly gotten worse under the current solution structure. Everything is connected. It is good to expand your thinking.
