Sorry for my ignorance, but doesn't the Catholic Church believe that the Pope's teachings are the final word in matters of faith and morals under the guidance of the Holy Spirit?
Only if he speaks ex cathedra which, happens almost never. The last time was in November of 1950.
Everything else he says is really just his opinion and can be ignored.
