We were aware of the burnbags, but I had the impression they had been hidden away for years. Turns out, the burnbags were the result of a hurried destruction in the days leading up to the inauguration...
The thing is, the burn bags were not burned, they were all stored in a locked SCIF room, waiting to be discovered, in pristine condition. And they were.
Looks like the guilty folks all reviewed their paperwork and self identified their own illegality and thought that they had disposed of the evidence.
They caught them all.......
Reminds me of the autopen pardons, the crooks thought that giving out pardons to nullify illegal acts would indemnify themselves from accountability, but all they did was to identify the genuine guilty players when the pardons were judged to be invalid.
At the same time in the department where I worked, the managers brought a big old shredder out to the back room and spent the entire Friday morning after the election shredding. Federal employees who are managers don’t usually do their own shredding.
