It should be noted, Gordon Lightfoot passed away on May 1, 2023, at the age of 84 due to natural causes. His death prompted tributes from fans and fellow musicians, highlighting his significant impact on music and culture.
Bob Dillon was quoted, "Gordon Lightfoot is the only Musician I've ever known to never produce a bad song".
I saw recently that 4K drone video of the wreck proved the hatches were battered by the waves to such an extent that it ripped the clamps off. Also, some pipes that went to the cargo hold had been ripped off, and together these would have been capable of dumping 1000 gallons per minute into the forward compartments of the ship. Finally, the keel broke as it rode lower in the massive waves, and the shipe broke and sank. Such a tragedy. I also hear the memorial rang the bell 30 times for the 29 crewmen and Gord. 🙏

My first date with my wife was Gordon In The Round in Cleveland in 1982. Awesome dude.
Resting at 550 ft in Lake Superior…. The Maritime Museum is awesome where the original ships bell is on display.
