What I am seeing with my uber liberal family members is an interest in religion, asking me about God and Church when they have shown no interest in the past and have declared themselves atheist or agnostic. One sister has watched a movie? or program about "David" that has really tweaked her interest in the Bible.
That's great progress. Glad they are comfortable opening themselves to you on the topic.
