It is true that disobeying orders is insurrection. By all means come down hard. Court Martial, etc.
However, these ex-military politicians all say they won't obey illegal orders. OK, that's a bit like informed consent. OR, an introduction of a discretion point in the legal system. That's also true. The officer corps is supposed to consider whether orders are legal, before letting the whole apple-cart run down-hill. That's their job. duh. Imagine if there were no checks like that? And, in the military, discretion is absolutely necessary for officers on the ground. Otherwise one can just Charge of the Light Brigade everyone - oh wait (thinks of NATO tactics in 2023).
I believe that Trump is aware of the 'illegal' word, and subsequent nuance in those Democrat statements. I mean, he is aware of how the founding fathers wrote to prevent tyranny, and that officers swear to do it. Also, Trump is aware of what's legal and what isn't. He has mastered that quite well, I think.
So, my conclusion is that this is Trump trying to wake people up. Get everyone talking about it. How does one determine whether what the president, or superior officer, says is legal? Better think for yourself.
Exactly. Their message completely by-passed the chain of command and was aimed at empowering the individual troop to disobey orders, on his own say-so.
The military needs to clarify this in no uncertain terms.
Right. They were blurring the lines between officer corps and enlisted men. The point is the enlisted men swear uphold to the constitution. Which means they have to follow orders.
Each troop does not have the military education to know what is not a legal order! The presumption is: yes it is a legal order! took an oath to obey the orders of the officers appointed over me.
What they did is totally irresponsible. However, arising to the level of treason or sedition is a different matter. Regardless, it shows a total disregard respect for authority and was very unethical. But, they are Demonrats, after all, therefore we cannot expect any intelligent acts coming from their thinking.
Ah yes, but there's a nuance

I agree fully. One must obey officers, including the president.
Go get 'em, tiger!
First impeach them & remove them from CONgress, they don't represent us, US.
Go get 'em Mr. President. They do deserve to be arrested and spend some time on jail.
..this is a wonderful illustration of the ineptitude of the "attorneys" involved with the demos thought processes...
...a semi competent 2nd year law student could have pointed out the "fatal flaws" of proceeding with this scenario ...

" However, arising to the level of treason or sedition is a different matter."
...indeed...
See my comment on nuance
How about we let them go for the lesser crime of insurrection?
I’m sure Pam Bondi is furiously typing up a strongly worded letter and planning a Fox News appearance as we speak
And absolutely nothing will happen
