Not even a year! If you lose your employer-sponsored prescription drug coverage, you have a 63-day Special Enrollment Period (SEP) to enroll in a Medicare Part D plan without incurring a late enrollment penalty. I knew better and still got burned by this! I haven't and don't take any medications at all and this "penalty" will follow me forever!
