China in the last 2 weeks has sent 3 top level officials to Moscow all on the heals of the announcement of the Trump peace deal. None of these visits had been planned in advance more than a couple of days. First was Premier Li Qiang, Xi's lap dog, to work on economic cooperation. His visit came with wide press coverage both in Russia and China. Then General Zhang Youxia who was given high profile state visit honors usually reserved for heads of state. Highly unusual. (Some suspect Zhang is actually in control of the PLA and not Xi due to factional infighting in Beijing.) This visit was covered in the Russian press, but only a few words in the Chinese press only to be taken down within an hour. Then both Russia and China went radio silent on the visit. Very strange. It was followed up by Wang Yi, China's Foreign Minister. Therefore, it can be speculated that Beijing was doing some strategic positioning to keep Putin from jumping ship. Essentially, Russia has become a vassal state of China since the war started. There is no way Russia would have survived without the Chinese. So I don't know how successful Trump is going to be trying to pull Putin away from Beijing's clutches. We will have to wait and see. Putin will ultimately do what is best for Russia and himself. He is not stupid. The Russian people can't stand the Chinese or what they sell. They much prefer to deal with the West.
I have heard this before on X, that Putin is becoming an asset of China.
