Naw, its not worth being a hyppocrite. Its better that if those countries want that business bad enough tje company can negotiate the terms. Thats a contract and the legal way.
The U.S. should take back control of the internet and declare it to be under its jurisdiction. It was invented and developed by the States but Obama gave it away. The idea that foreign countries are targeting Americans for using the internet it developed is insane to me.
On one hand this is actually what the EU based companies and governments already presume to do.
Example: recently fining X 140million.
If X pays then a precedent will be made and we can could force the EU players to do the same in return.
However a tit for tat foreign policy never ends well.
At the moment it's best to let the EU prove that they are the jackasses just by existing...no need to give them any reasons to cloud the issue by having American companies telling EU leadership that they aren't the Boss.
With nothing to fight for the EU crumbles under the weight of their own actions.
All American companies in Europe just need to watch it happen and not get involved.
Nope. Because the converse will also be true. Do you think that a ccp owned European company operating here should be able to flout US law while claiming to be in accord with their home country's laws?
US companies operating overseas do have to obey relevant US laws and the laws of the country they are operating in. This is, of course, very locally subjective. An example of this is that US companies and their representatives operating abroad cannot engage in bribery contrary to US law no matter the local culture.
It's not a very well thought out idea. The potential for unintended consequences is massive not to mention possible liabilities.
That works both ways, you know.
No, If USA is stronger than anybody else so if foreign companies want to operate in the USA they must obey American laws.

What if they don't?
Their loss.
Many of them are HQ’d in Ireland for tax purposes. Who cares where their HQ is? If the operate here, they must follow our laws.

Do we allow that?
This might be the dumbest thing ever. I mean we can ask for this, but the chance any European country would even consider complying is like 0.33% lmao
Good luck with that 😢
