The US government did everything possible to provoke Japan into attacking the US for ONE reason, to bring us into the AID of Europe and Britain in WW2. We were already funding and supporting Britain---and Germany from many sources----but we did not have troops on the ground because the American people did not want to get involved in ANOTHER European war like WW1. We sanctioned Japan with embargo on everything from toilet paper to pencils then left Pearl Harbor wide open for attack. I will never believe that our Aircraft Carriers were lucky to be on war games out in the Pacific by coincidence! IMO
