I recently observed a deer that had been harvested with a 30 - six from 150yrds... it went right through the rib cage and left a small hole on entry and a quarter sized hole upon exiting. The dirt behind it where it hit some 40 feet away was hollowed out a bit too. No bones are stopping that.
