Well, a lot of the Bishopric and normal members are Freemasons. Aside from that, the priesthood is used as a sort of secret society. There's two levels, Aaronic and Melchizedek (sp?) priesthood. Each one has its own teachings that aren't talked about with other non priests. The church has a sort of Women's Auxiliary, too, that's modeled after what the Freemasons do, as well. Both the masons and LDS Church are heavily involved in social matters, but if you're a member and need help, the Church will practically move mountains to help you, as long as you're in good standing with the Church. Meaning, you dutifully pay your tithe each week, attend the weekly meetings and Sunday School classes, etc. Lastly, in the geographic areas where the Church has a following, its members are interspersed into all aspects of civil governance, just like the Masons.
There's key differences though, too. The first of which is that the LDS Church does not use idolatry. There's no use of the cross or other symbols and no praying to saints or ancestors.
