Is anybody else getting sued for old debts in small claims court?

All of a sudden I'm getting sued for old debts that have been sold. Dont need any advice since I'm a paralegal. But just curious.

If i settle you debt for pennies in the dollar then i just paid your bill. You have no debt to a generous person you never contracted with.
