And that if there is only one cellphone and she got that cellphone, would he for sure talked about that kind of things to his wife - maybe he wanted to protect her, and not make her worry too much, and deleted that type of texted discussions from his phone right after the discussion so even if there was only one cellphone and the wife has it not all of the texts would be there?
And then there simply might be some bad blood between the two women that is mostly from other reasons, and now the wife is pissed at Candace for what she is talking about, so she is trying to make Candace to sound bad, and that makes her seem somewhat insincere because she IS acting, a bit, but it could be just from those normal human emotions, maybe something on the level that they met in some function or another and didn't like each other. Humans are humans, and two attractive looking women... maybe the wife thought that Candace tried to flirt with her husband, and maybe she thought that her husband responded, and has been seeing Candace in bad light ever since.
It could be anything. There doesn't seem to be enough to actually attack the wife, not just based on the rumors circulating now. Maybe enough to keep an eye on her, but not enough to assume anything as likely, much less true, yet.
As for the wife and there being something "off" with her... she is a damn beauty pageant product, somebody who had spend a lot of her earlier years learning to act in certain ways in order to succeed in those things. She is presumably still doing that in public. Might be a pretty different person in private.
So, right now, to me it looks like there isn't any actual concrete sauce about anything, not yet. Markers that it would perhaps be a good idea to keep an eye on her and keep digging, but everything I have seen, so far, looks like it could also have more or less innocent explanations.
