Bea Arthur drove a truck for the US Marines, but was loathe to admit it. She was not a patriot at all. She was the least likable person on that show, or any show previous to that (especially "Maude").

Just wait until you find out what these "innocent old women" were doing in Hollywood. At least one of the Golden Girls was apparently a Ringleader for satanic ritual abuse, human trafficking, and child grooming of actors/actresses. I now suspect all 4.
