Egypt has constructed multiple barriers along its border with Gaza, each with different depths. A concrete wall built in late 2023 and early 2024 was dug six meters deep underground.
Additionally, a more extensive buffer zone project, revealed in February 2024, involves a massive excavation that includes a trench 20 meters wide and 10 meters deep, located two kilometers from the border near Rafah.
This trench is part of a broader security initiative that includes a new wall and a restricted military zone.
Earlier efforts, such as the underground steel wall initiated in 2009, were reported to extend down 30 to 35 meters.

It's too bad our own overlords won't spend even a token amount of money to build new fencing, because what is down there, as far as I'm concerned, is a fence, not a wall. I want a castle wall 20' high, 20' under the surface, also with a very wide and deep trench (preferably a swamp), and turrets every 200 yards or so. We have the money to fund all these border walls for other countries, especially israel, but not our own.
