The trend I am seeing is moderation across the board, in Vermont a very odd state but loaded with Democrats in our small cities (I cannot call them urban, they are just too small), Progressives are not winning, but moderate Dems and Repubs are. It seems when the going gets rough, people are yearning to go back to treading water in limbo. Regular folks do not like government socialism, but they do resent billionaires all the same. Strong work ethics are what matters most, not state dinners and international parades with red carpets.Socialisms biggest draw is that people think it respects the workers, we have to show them the reality of it, and at the same time, President Trump needs to show the workers that he understands them and sees their struggle in a corrupt system. For us old folks who experienced a country that was thriving and building and teaching , with a safe and law abiding people, a country that had supreme authority in the world, it is so hard to explain that to people under 40, including my own son. Sometimes he kids with me and says, "you're lying", when I told him that at age 12 it was safe for me to take public transportation into Manhattan to go to a free museum so I could write a book report, or that there were no 24 hour stores, or 24 hour "news", or that there were dress codes, and that a boy wearing a dress and make up would be sent to a psychiatrist or put in a psych hospital, with no questions. That there were no dial 2 for Spanish or gay romance in movies and tvs, I could go on and on.
