New announcements are: Gold Card for Visas if companies are willing to pay 1M for them to enter, reducing the Federal workforce while increasing private company work force, giving US Citizens the most favored nation status for drug prices, (no more subsidizing the world)!
It sounded to me like companies can use that "gold card" to bring in overseas workers, or hire them out of college instead of them leaving the country when they're done. Possibly a way to skirt H1B restrictions? I don't know details, but it didn't sound like a great thing.
I watched that discussion. The workers will be severely vetted and I presume that if they don't behave themselves, they'll be evicted, regardless of the gold card.
