These people in question aren't Semites. They are Edomites. Direct descendants of Jacobs brother Esau. John chapter 8 is them that Jesus is talking to. They admitted that they were never in bondage like the Israelites were. Yet they were descendants of Abraham. Process of elimination means they were the descendants of Esau.
