Not from down under but originally from the US version of Australia, Texas
Now come on...😆
Here's a BIG difference. I asked Grok to estimate the number of guns the Australian military has, and how many guns we Texans have.
According to a 2017 estimate by the Small Arms Survey, the Australian Defence Force holds 214,520 firearms, including those for active-duty personnel and reserves.
Texans own an estimated 32.9 million to 54.9 million firearms.
We have them outnumbered by over 200x - just Texan citizens - not counting our guard/reserve/active duty military bases just in Texas. Also that probably doesn't count all of the guns lost in tragic boating accidents.
That said - The Hilton Hotel in Sydney is the first place I've been where I saw black helicopter exercises, complete with people sliding down ropes to the roof. I was in the Presidential suite (I was Diamond and the hotel upgraded me for the week) and heard helicopters outside the window. They were training on the bldg across the street. I asked the hotel manager at the cocktail hour and he said they use that bldg fairly often. That did have a cool factor.
Wow - I guess I should've added a sarcasm tag. It was intended as a joke - not a jab at you. Sorry if you misunderstood that. There was news this week of Australia considering getting even tougher on their gun control and blaming it on that shooting. So yeah - it did have a little bit to do with the Aussies because their govt is going after the farmer's guns now. I got the cheers reference - I lived in the UK for 2 years (where they also say cheers).
Yes - your husband responded to me a few times and was quite gracious. He seemed like a good guy.
