When it comes to history of famous pieces, I never trust the different narratives floated around by various "historians". Unless something comes directly from the said artist, its of no value.
At this period I was expecting to execute a statue of Egypt for the Suez Lighthouse. I even laid before Ismail Pasha a project. It was this that made an evil-disposed newspaper say, and others repeat, that I had executed a colossal statue for Egypt, which had not been used, and that I had resold it to the Society of the French-American Union in order that from it might be made the Statue of Liberty.
Now, I never executed anything for the Khedive except a little sketch which has remained in his palace, and represents Egypt under the features of a female Fellah. Besides every one has seen the model of the Statue of Liberty made at Paris, and only evilly disposed persons are ignorant of what it has cost me. I have never answered these small cavilings, but I think that I ought to notice them on this occasion.
Furthermore:
In 1884, at a banquet held in honor of Bartholdi, the French Senator Jules Francois Jennotte—Bezerian, in his after dinner speech, recalled an experience he had shared with the sculptor, saying: “Several days after having met Monsieur for the first time, he invited me to the Opera. In entering the stage box, I noticed an aged woman sitting in a corner, and when the light fell on her face, I turned to Bartholdi and said to him, 'Why, that's your model for the Statue of Liberty!' 'Yes,' he answered calmly. 'It's my mother.'”
But seriously, you see people pushing "Lady Liberty was a muslim" right when Trump is getting rid of the illegals, that should trigger our critical thinking as to whether this is part of a narrative propaganda.
I did not say it was built then rejected. The Egyptians rejected it, had no funds for it.
Fact is it was originally a project for Egypt that was rejected. He found another sucker nation to take it. It almost didn’t make it in the USA either. New Yorkers didn’t want it, had major trouble funding the location and base. And when it did get to the states it sat in crates for years before being assembled.
I only go by sauce fren, thats my way of finding the truth. Not TV shows, not here says, just sauce. So far I have not seen any sauce that shows that the model used for Lady of Liberty is an Arab woman.
BTW, this particular psyop is very sophisticated. It uses the negative sentiments many right wingers have to push a leftist agenda.
That’s not what I said. I said the statue ‘gift’ as a whole was sloppy seconds to the USA, and was originally a Muslim face design since it was originally a gift to Egypt.
I thought the face of the statue was Bartholdi’s mother or wife.
I haven’t read the history detail. It was likely revised after Egypt rejected it.
Should have been rejected a second time.
The body is definitely modeled after Egyptian sculpture.
It's Lucifer.
I always thought it looked like a man.

Fascinating... because I'd read it's Lucifer...
Fake News.
In the words of Auguste Bartholdi:

The Modern Marvels show is years old so no, it’s not related to current somali fraud and muslims stating their goal is taking over the USA.
And with the statue to be in Egypt, it representing a muslim would be perfectly normal.
Yeah but that project never went beyond a sketch. Sauce already provided.

It wasn't.
Whatever you say.
But it was.

Sheesh. I said that is all already.
Narratives are created over decades. Long before we even know where the society is going on.
