If we get Greenland, and resource exploration starts up, I'd say a population boom would likely happen, with statehood not too long after.
Kind of like a Alaska rerun if you will, and Alaska only had ~220,000 during it's intro to statehood. 4.5x population expansion isn't unreasonable if Greenland is meant to be more than a MIL beachhead.
Alberta, yes. I haven't heard any serious talk about statehood for Greenland, though.
