I've been watching this race to build a fusion reactor and it astounds me that no one seems to be able to think beyond 19th century technological orthodoxy. They are still working to use atomic fusion to generate heat, in order to make steam, in order to run turbines that run electrical generators. This is exactly how conventional fission reactors create electricity. (Fission>heat>steam>turbine>electrical generator.) If they don't start thinking outside of that restrictive box, any fusion technology they come up with will only serve the existing model, and we will still be paying through the nose for our electricity for the next 800 years.
Also, in my opinion, they will never make fusion useful until they abandon the kinetic model all of science has relied on since the early 20th century. Yes, you can accomplish fusion that way, by smashing atoms together, but you have to have to get the plasma up to eleventy gaziiion degrees in the first place to do it, and that's not practical. That is not the only way to cause fusion.
Respectfully, I suggest that Trump needs to put a stop to the deliberate suppression of independent experimentation (up to and including murder) that Big Science, Big Business, and Big Government have been engaged in for the last 100 years. He also needs to take steps to make the patent process affordable and easy again, because they have rigged it to favor big corporations. They made it too complex and too expensive for small inventors to get a foot in. On that point, someone needs to look into the connections of the bureaucrats running the patent office, and the political and business connections of the ones who made the rules for it. I would be willing to bet that it would make a whole lot of eyebrows go up.
I agree...You bring up many good and relevant points.
The suppression of tech has been going on for nearly 2 centuries that we know of and if the ones that bankroll and control "science" don't want a technology introduced - and I believe in many instances, RE-introduced, then it's not going to happen. Just look at all the "coincidental deaths" we know about surrounding alternative energy and physics. Even if you are not "conspiracy minded" - it's not hard to observe and agree that there's something that's been going on in that realm...
Yep, electromagnetism got hijacked by Lorentz and the OCD symmetrical field theories. I hear enough chatter going on in the fringe groups about evidence of additional data points that break field theories, so I'm pretty hopeful AI or hobby guys will develop something awesome.

Hillary Clinton's first job in Washington DC was working for the US Patent Office. Can we even imagine what kind of swamp that place is?
If it is fusion... It could be something that actually works and is scalable, something from the Tesla stable such as wardenclffe towers or the "super capacitor" recently announced by Andrea Rossi.
Mr Nunes could be using the word fusion to throw others off the track.....

You don't say. Sounds like she was in her natural environment.
