No I'm sick of people expecting the govt to foot the bill for their life style. If you are too stupid or too lazy to plan for your future, then why do you expect everyone else to do it?
I'm 68. I knew since I was in my 20;s that I needed to plan for my future and to not expect anyone else, to include my husband, to support me.
I have nothing but distain for women and men who think that the govt is supposed to take care of them in their retirement. There have been enough public service announcements throughout the years, plus all the information is available online and through your "financial planners," to know that SSA was not meant to be your sole source of income in retirement.
I have three, no four, sources of income in my retirement and not a single one of them is from my spouse.
Well good for you but many if not most Americans didn’t/don’t have that luxury. Rather they paid into SS and upon retirement want it, every last bit of it as it is their retirement and it’s the corrupt way the government is handing it back to us that pisses us off. At one point in our history the SS was intended to be American,s retirement and for many it still has to be. Absolutely everything this young lady stated is true and it’s wrong what the government does with OUR MONEY.
Plan for what f'ing future? The staggering majority of people under 30 will never even have a home to retire in, let alone afford any bootstraps to pull on and just saaaaaaaaave for that "eggnest"
Yes, I do, based on my wages. They are NOT anywhere near what would be considered high. As a matter of fact, they are only a hundred dollars over the average SSA payment, so I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination. I just planned for my future instead of keeping my fingers crossed that I would be able to live a normal.. You do realize that SSA was NOT meant to be the only source of income you were supposed to have in retirement? It was meant to be ONE THIRD of your retirement. When companies started to quit funding retirement pensions, people should have been smart enough to see the writing on the wall. You either needed to find a job that did provide a pension or increase your savings.
So you say "No I'm sick of people expecting the govt to foot the bill for their life style. " and " I have nothing but distain for women and men who think that the govt is supposed to take care of them in their retirement. " And yet you seem more than happy to accept Government money and the "care" that the govt gives to you ? Can you hear yourself ?
