I mean, unless you are sitting here and saying the Reconstruction Acts were unconstitutional, there is very much precedent for the US federal government and military to directly occupy and run a state government, especially over the issue of infringment of rights, civil or natural.

Of course, if you want to take the unconstitutional path, that's willfully choosing to unravel the current legal basis for the USA as it exists currently.
