ChatGPT can't even find stuff that I know is on the internet. The vast majority of its training was on Wikipedia. I tested ChatGPT. I asked it to tell me the name of my paternal grandfather, knowing the info was online. It couldn't find the answer, so it lied to me and gave me an uncle's name. AI lies when it can't find the correct answer, or when its training forbids giving a correct answer.
Correct. AI was trained on a points system, which meant that guessing or making up an answer, always resulted in more points, than just admitting it didn't know something.
So an AI now "guesses" or makes something up when it has no answer, because it has a mathematical chance that's greater than zero, to get something maybe vaguely in the ballpark of something right.
