Woodrow Wilson at the helm. 16th Amendment suspiciously ratified in November. It was the birth of the IRS, the goon squad for retreiving taxes. Taxes? There were no taxes on income, just a sales tax. Why did the government need to collect taxes when the Tarriffs were fully supporting the Federal (and State) Government operations? Oh yes… to support the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 which was going to be implemented in December while Congress was on Christmas leave? So to break it down: 1913 gave us the IRS, the Federal Reserve (privately owned) and abolished the need for Tarriffs…. Our country was never the same after that until today.
