It’s running face first into the downside of Republicanism/Democracy. The reliance on the people. Most of the voting population aren’t absolutists by any stretch of the imagination. Even many gun owners aren’t. And generally don’t seem inclined to change dramatically.
A lot of 2A Absolutists regularly damage their own case in the court of public opinion. Either because they throw autistic hissy fits when something doesn’t go their way. IE “Trump didn’t revoke every gun control act day 1 he’s against the 2nd! REEEEEEE.” “Federal Agents wasted an armed leftist We’re next!” REEEEEEEE
Or they pull some stunt. That while technically legal is designed to deliberately provoke and ‘Trigger the normies’. Which doesn’t help with changing people’s opinions. As the downside with living in a Society with other people. Is you live in a society with other people.
The place to start with getting lasting changes through to put this all to bed permanently would ultimately be to get the majority of the general public on side with you again.
