Did they all get the Vax? I think once you take the Vax, you're connected to a system that "they" can control your Fate.
I'm thinking the same. Once you get the jab with those self-assembling parts, they can wreak havoc with your body.
Worse, they can start blackmailing people. If you don't pay the ransom, you die as painfully as we can program into your system.
