According to the tabloids (which, are surprisingly more accurate than one would expect) there has always been sibling rivalry between Charles and Andrew. Charles supposedly has loathed his brother for most of his life. Perhaps, it's due to jealousy over Andrew having been "mommy's favorite". So, that's probably at the bottom of his willingness to throw Andy under the bus.

Charles reportedly is not doing well with the cancer so I doubt he is trying to save himself at this date. It's rumored he is far more ill than the palace lets on. I don't even know if they'd bring a person in the latter stages of cancer up on charges anyway.

Andrew was a spoiled brat (by all accounts) who grew up to be a spoiled man. I am not surprised he got himself into this mess because according to sources, he believes his "royalty" puts him above others and allows him to treat everyone else like garbage.

Charles is a disgrace. His treatment of the late Princess Diana alone makes him ineligible for any kind of respect. And don't get me started on his paramour.
