What about child sacrifice in antiquity? Seems it has been going on forever. Were children "sacrificed" to appease an angry God? I can't imagine these sacrifices were for fame fortune but made to prevent catastrophe beyond their control.

And then from the angle of destroying innocense, purity, promise, as an act of selfishness for self interest. Minds are twisted by RELIGION. Where did the RELIGION actually come from? Somewhere somehow someone benefitted from child sacrifice.

Some "civilizations" that practiced child sacrifice were abolished, and for that reason. Carthage comes to mind.
