I used to say that I am slightly psychic -- until a priest told me that Catholics can't be psychics by definition. Technically (he said), they're mystics. I don't really care what you call it -- but it runs on my mother's side of the family.
My gifts (such as they are) are pretty useless. I got the stuff that nobody really wants. But once in a great while and it is VERY rare -- I get a vision.
During the Gulf War I got a doozy and it scared me half to death (enough for me to write a letter to the archdiocese).
I won't go into all of the details but it ended with a massive army and all of them had the same shields used during the Crusades. There were some numbers involved and an instruction to pray. Since I am not one who gets visions as a rule, I was not sure I interpreted this properly (which was why I wrote the church). I personally thought it meant that in years to come there would be a massive conflict between Muslims and Christians. I thought the Christians would prevail only because the shields were gleaming in the sunlight. But who really knows what visions actually mean? I get them so rarely I don't consider my interpretation reliable.
BUT because of what I saw...I would not count on religious fanatics packing up and decamping due to lack of funding. I still think it's going to come down to something really...major.
