Because they don't think. Stop asking them to. They have to see it and be told what to think. But they had to slowly tell them bit at a time so they would expect it and believe it. See how much we told them and they denied it all. Chip away at the programming bit by bit. Sucks. Honestly we should have just locked them all up for being crazy.
