Many of them also describe encountering Eerily similar creatures. There’s of course some variation depending on geographic area. But certain physical and character traits seem to carry over when these creatures are described regardless of geographic location.

The likelihood of cultures with no known historic interaction separated by in some cases thousands of miles and entire oceans. Describing similar creatures and phenomena and that being the result of pure chance and happenstance is well unlikely to put it mildly.
