Well and also, back then going to Washington to serve wasn't a career. It was probably unconscionable that anyone would do that as their primary vocation and never return to their regular life. They had the same attitude toward the bill of rights. The people who were against including it weren't against the rights, they just thought it was dumb to include them because those rights were so obvious that they didn't need to be spelled out. Glad that arrogance didn't rule the day.
