I bet a lot of the formers, if they remain crime free, could be cured with anti-parasitics, fasting, and prayer.

… but, you know, “secular solutions to spiritual problems”. Granted, even the church clearly didn’t approach this problem correctly, whatever the correct actions are.

… It was never “quietly move them to a new parish”.
