Also when Jesus said this, God had turned His back on Jesus. Because that is when my sin, our sin, was played upon Him. And God doesn’t look upon sin. So for the first time, Jesus couldn’t feel His Father with Him. And again, Jesus couldn’t die. The wages of sin is death. Jesus couldn’t die. Not until sin was laid upon Him. Our sin. “It is finished”. Then Jesus gave up the ghost. We follow our Savior. What He went through, so will we. Unless Christ returns, we will die. Because of sin. But because Jesus defeated death, so will we. Absence of the body, is presence of the Lord. Once we die, we get to meet our Savior. The love of our life. I bet He is a great hugger. 😁
I do not believe God ever forsook Jesus Christ. Many verses say so. Not even on the cross as he was there by perfect obedience unto death. My God My God for this ourpose was I spared. Several text have that the peshitta is one of them.
Many translations speak of abandonment and “temporary separation” from the Father as Jesus took the weight of the world’s sin. Everything we go through, Jesus has as well. This abandonment and separation, as humans, many go through this because of sin. The feeling. This is what has been explained to me over the years. Just sharing it.
