IEEPA allowed Trump to wheel and deal. Most of the deals are already set. Now he can just shift them to the more stogy statues with the SC’s blessing. A 150 day temporary statute allows the paperwork to get into place. All that effort by the democrats and Trump still won.
I am expecting a little over $600B in tariff revenue this year and that is in line with the debt clock number.
I am expecting about $3T of the tariff deal investment money to be spent in the US economy this year. About one third of that ($1T) will end up as various forms of federal tax revenue.
Add higher tax revenue from growth, DOGE type savings, decreased spending on fraud, and lower interest rates on the debt. Suddenly, you are closing in on a balanced budget.
Also, because of the tariff deals we are onshoring more manufacturering and the other countries have opened their markets. We are approaching a zero trade deficit or at least a much, much lower trade deficit. Oil and gas exports will continue to grow.
