According to a study, women on the pill are in a permanent hormonally "pregnant" state. This means that their brain is no longer seeking a suitable mate (i.e. strong, intelligent, supportive) but hooks onto unsuitable mates instead. In addition, body scent plays a large part in a woman's (subconscious) choice of a partner but this no longer applies when she's pregnant.
