The Saurians err, Slytherins err, Slitheens err, Goa'uld(?) err, Archons err, Lizard people on the other hand, I'm pretty sure they exist. And I wouldn't put it past them to be the cause of this Flame Spurt, feeding a narrative for a distraction. It's the type of thing they do pretty regularly I think.
