I was once offered an all expense trip to China to just give them my opinion on a project they were working on. I don’t know how they found me as I was about the only one with the expertise. I wasn’t planning on going, but I asked my brother for an opinion. He said that just giving your expert opinion would be an ITAR violation and would get me in big trouble.
